I would have liked to use my real name on my guitars, but 99% of the non-French speaking world can't pronounce it based on the spelling and some of the more creative pronunciations that come up sound awful, at least to me.

On the opposite side, "Smith" is just plain boring.
People always ask about my middle name: "z as in zebra?"
My response is "why the heck would my mom name me zebra?
Since I give away the guitars I make, I think the recipient's name or initial is a great idea.
